THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD -
THAT LEADS THROUGH MIRITINI

.

AND ... WADING ALONG THE MUDDY CREEK

Coastweek - - HASH Run No. 103 - SHIGGY RUN at Miritini:

Though hashers looked upon the morning's heavy downpour as a hopeful excuse to NOT Hash, unfortunately it didn't last long enough, reports Maria 'Log-on' Kamau.

Thus the die-hards reported promptly at 3.30pm at Blue Room and by 4.30 p.m. we were off - or rather ON-ON at the seemingly abandoned railway station of Miritini.

Quite a picturesque run this, down a long winding road within lush greenery as we marveled at the determination of Eric 'the mouth' to have set all the very visible marks to guide the ever energetic FRBs.

First 'hold' was a wet one, though it was initially reported dry (with reference to the absence of locally brewed Hash Holy Water we are now accustomed to).

Here, at the abandoned 'port' we had the opportunity of being guided verbally through the challenges of living across the Port Reitz creek.

Here the only mode of transport across is the river Ma-3 (otherwise described as a small simple canoe that sits about 8, and is slowly maneuvered back and forth  even in high tide, hence the scramble for space by the more than 20 patiently in-waiting).

After this entertaining experience, we got to the fun part - The SHIGGY - where to the delight of Mouth, the Hare for the day, we all had to literally wade through the muddy shores of the creek.

Once nicely browned and mushy to our knees, we got to the point where we were once again reminded that 'What comes down..?' and UP we had to go to head back home.

Second 'hold' was even more scenic, at the top of the hill just as the sunset lent its splendour across the valley and winding creek down below.

One of Obama's long lost she-village-mate cum childhood sweetheart  even swore to 'grab' the very spot we sat on, to build a house that befits a stately visit by 'our' honorable foreign-serving Senator.

(Shame on you Mnazi, you must 'declare your wealth' in public first - if not establish the true existence of your claimed relationship to the said Senator).

Finally the now weary hashers wound up the excellently set run by doing a brisk walk into the fast falling dusk if only to prolong the enjoyment of the beautiful hash-unexplored environment.

If you fancy a bit of exploration around the Island and its environs/ suburbs/ outskirts, as you meet new people, while at the same time pretending to get some exercise, feel free to contact Coco-B on 0721 670129, or Cockpit on 0722 794746 for more information.
