PIONEERING LIKONI
HASH WAS AN EXCELLENT RUN ...
.

.
AND JUST A TOTAL BUNCH OF FUN
!
Coastweek - -
The Hash run of last week was set in the picturesque
terrain off Likoni, by the Hare Rolf 'Quickie', assisted by the
enthusiastic Caroline - who is yet to be baptized.

Once the pack crossed by Ferry to the mainland south,
anticipation was building up.
Having done the quarries that resembled pre-historic
archeological sites in past runs, thought of something new was
welcome.
And the Hare did not let anyone down, as always, with a
six Kms. run that turned out to be much more.
From the start, after doing a flat course for a few
hundred yards, the trail turned to south, meandering through a
miniature city in the making, sans water, sans electricity and
sans humans.
The only place on this planet where houses are built
from coral blocks dug up right (or left in some cases) next
door - literally.
And every one of this structure had a large Martian
crater close by.
We are sure the residents, when they do start living
there, will have babies that fly, along with all the live
stock that has wings too ... if there are to be no
disasters.
Or, perhaps it could be a wonderful tourist attraction
for potential mountaineers to hone their skills by practicing
here before scaling the mighty Mount Kenya.
After passing this new wonder of the world, another
village was crossed in a crater that could be accessed only
through rough rock outcrops. |

Area legislators asking for votes here about must be facing a
mammoth task !
Well, the pack was now on the sea front, still shaking heads,
shoulders and everything that came loose after running/ walking
through the corals, up, down, right , left and centre
...
Cool breezes and a full tide offered relief from the sun and run
at the first Hold, dry despite the 'Water, Water everywhere, not a
drop to drink!' (Coleridge).
The bushy trail that wound through the sea front, or what was
not grabbed so far, took the pack to the tip of the mainland,
turning toward the channel and kept on west.
A wonderful sight, to behold and take home as sweet
memory.
|
The trail still hugged the waters, surrounded by
verdant greenery, freshly washed from the morning showers and
smelling of perfumes no Frenchman could ever invent.
And after the sight of a real Hare that darted across,
it's orange ears merging with the setting sun's glory,
returning to the home base was an effort, with tired feet, aching
bodies, but refreshed hearts. |

Every one had a
DOWN-DOWN, the Hares for getting lost on the trail, Koki
'Wethole' for being in a slumpy mood for craving a Pizza, and others
for just not having sinned.
An excellent run and a total bunch of fun ! Next
run: 30
April. Meet at HQ pub, Mtwapa, 3:00 sharp. R.s.v.p.
