THE 'G.M.' WAS DOWNMARKED FOR PROVIDING TOO MANY ANSWERS !

competitive fun event designed to promote awareness
of sustainable development in the RURAL community

Coastweek - - Last Saturdays SWANK Hash run took place at the wonderful KWETU site overlooking the far reaches of Mtwapa Creek.

SWANK HHH were invited to enter a team for the KWETU Environmental Challenge, a competitive fun event designed to promote awareness of sustainable development in the community.

Things did not go too well for us. In the quiz, the GM was downmarked for providing too many answers.

We thought that we had won the treasure hunt but were disqualified for short cutting, which is rewarded in hashing.

And then there was the raft building exercise.

The teams had to construct a raft from materials found at the creeks edge and carry a team member to the opposite bank of a lagoon.

The teams hunted for timber, kamba and the plastic drums that were around.

If marks had been awarded for artistic impression then the Hash raft would have been a clear winner, however, due to too many engineers being involved, it was last in the water but floated like a feather, even if Maria did get a wet bottom.

It was all great fun and well done to the KWETU organizers.

The event was won by Lafarge, whilst the SWANK team did not come last.

We will try harder next year.

And Quickie promises to do the three legged race on his own.

NEXT WEEKS RUN: Saturday 10th September - will be a real runners trail in Nyali. Meet at GECKO VILLAGE - 3.30 P.M.
