HASHING THROUGH THE toddy
PALM TAPPERS OF KIKAMBALA

'Hare' Emily was assisted by Rolf

Coastweek - - The HASH was run over the weekend through lush Kikambala.

After a long time the hashers rolled in the laps of beautiful nature, running a well laid trail by Hare Emily and assisted by Rolf.

A wonderful experience, on a beautiful afternoon, winding through the farms and  vegetable patches of the locals.

Good thing the maize was not ready, else the pack also would have had to be hand-tied like the gagged goats that gave us company.

The locals, not educated in the hash protocol, had diligently wiped away most trail marks, and planted seedlings of weeds (!), forestalling any evil that could befall them.

The challenge now was to follow a freshly planted seedling trail; presumably the first of it's kind in the Hash history.

The trail wound through sandy out-backs and emerged on to the beach and took us back through the green country lanes to the fresh coconut palm tappers.

This time round the juice was just that.

Sweet and refreshing.

The tappers joined the hashers in the circle to sing away the rain - all choreography followed to hilt.

A wonderful opportunity and an enchanting experience lost  to all those who idled away the afternoon.
