Run No. 112 - 22nd January 2005 - Report
Black D. Murunga’s little surprises never end. Last Saturday Black D. – the hare of the day – forced us to run using Trail Maps instead of the usual Lime or Unga Marks. Damned were you if you never did your contours and Map-reading in your School Days!
By 4.00pm, a handful of hashers were waiting eagerly for the Day’s surprise at Emona Pub in Bombolulu, off Mombasa/Malindi Road. At 4.30pm, Black D. surfaced, sweating profusely all over (as usual, he’d probably run straight from home to set the run, and then made a mad dash for the meeting venue!). After the usual run talk by the Grandmaster (Eric ‘The Mouth’ Rupia), the pack set off.
From the Pub, the hashers crossed the Mombasa/Malindi Road onto a murram road to some old stone quarries. As it turned out, Black D. had treated the hashers to another trick by setting the trail using Beach Sand, and to everyone’s surprise, he was so economical with the sand to the extent that the marks were practically invisible! However, thanks to the two SWANK ‘Bionic Women’ in the form of Fina ‘K-Sutra’ and Sylvia ‘L & W’, who were the only ones able to use their bionic eyes to spot the miniscule marks, we managed to run on!
On we went, crossing Links road into Nyali Estate and on to the Beach for a ‘Wet but Dry’ hold. Here we enjoyed a ‘boys vs. girls’ football match. Margaret ‘DTeaser’ decided to join the girl team but was soon given the red-card for kicking other players instead of the ball! DTeaser, you should ‘play’ more often with Kiprop ‘HO’ to learn more!
The Beach trail was fairly long before emerging at the S.O.S. school on Links Road. From here the pack ran back towards Mamba Village direction before taking a right turn onto a murram road, to emerge at the KRA Staff houses on Mombasa/Malindi Road for the straight run back to Emona. The usual Religious Advisor wanna-be Maria ‘Log-on’ decided that all the hashers were sinners and thus administered one grand punishment at the Circle.
All in all it was a good run, after which the Grandmaster could not resist warning Black D. for not abiding with the hash rules and declared that ‘If you wanna play the game, you got to follow the rules’!
The next Run No. 114 will be set by Aslam ‘The Vib’ in Mtwapa, honourably co-hared by the GM ‘The Mouth’. Please feel free to join us as we meet at Caltex Petrol Station near Kendas Village in Mtwapa, at 3.00pm. Please note that the Run starts at exactly 3.30pm sharp!
ON-ON!
