SWANK pay Mnarani a visit

Question:  What tree is also known as the upside down tree?
Answer:    The Baobab.

Hash number 169, this one was held a bit further afield this time in Kilifi. A depleted pack gathered early at Gecko Village and were loaded into the back of the Hash pickup/taxi for the journey to Kilifi. After picking up Coleta, the Togoian at Mtwapa, on bounced the Hash mobile through pothole after pothole, past Vipingo and Takaungu. The five shaken but not stirred Hashers at the back admiring the mini-lakes of flooding and all the greenery along the way.

Arriving at the Kilifi Dairy Shop earlier than expected, the pack piled out and immediately went on a shopping spree, leaving the Hare Wet Hole and Co-Hare Vibrator to stare in amazement. After some whipping by Wet Hole the pack strengthened now by the virgin John of the Catamaran Barnacle-C picked up the trail.

Lots of tarmac initially but then the trail turned into a beautiful path through lots of greenery. The foliage of tall trees filtering the sun nicely. The local villagers certainly seemed content as the ladies tended the maize laden shambas and the men sipped Mnazi watching with slight puzzlement as the pack huffed and puffed past. Vegetation increased as the trail went on, leading suddenly to a giant Baobab standing huge & aloof in the gloom, the path went around and on the left what was obviously a very old ruin. Coming upon this eerie setting with no warning, ‘Ee-Jack-U’r-Late came to a complete halt thinking himself possessed by spirits. Lucky for him, this was a hold at the site of the Mnarani National Monument.

The rest of the pack followed in more slowly, Co-Hare Vibrator been sexually harassed by the hashette threesome of Kama Sutra, Coleta, and Hot Looong One. Everyone agreed that the combination of centuries old ruins, fantastic views of Kilifi Creek, weather, and the amazing flora made Kilifi & Mnarani ideal as “God’s Waiting Room”.

On again, down the 104 steps (not up, Thank God) to the creek and mangroves, and up again for the last mile home. Due to the setting sun Down Downs were held back at Gecko Village. The trip back being made more interesting with the prospect of pushing the Hash mobile up a very steep hill
