Run No. 85 – July 17th – Report
Last Saturday’s Hash was run on the sprawling Bamburi - Bombolulu - Nyali circuit.
This was a hash with a difference. Each runner was given the route map with Holds clearly marked. The idea was to identify the landmarks and pursue the route. Of course no permission from the Hash body in Malaysia or the great Hashman in the sky was taken for such a daring do by Eric ”Roadrunner” Murunga , hare of the day. Assumedly when he slept, Fina and Sylvia the true blue Hashers marked the route.
A good crowd of about over a baker’s dozen set off from the Watering Hole that has since dried up and is closed to all bipeds and quadrupeds alike, or seemingly so on a Saturday afternoon!!!! But the neighbour Emona was good enough.
The “trail” followed the Malindi road and diverted towards the quarry on east with a foot deep ruts and gooey mud, churned up with the recent rains. From the quarry the route circled the new Kibarani dump in progress, complete with stinks and other inner estates before emerging out on to the Links Road. From here it led on west and north to the great beach hotels, only to lead the pack back on Ziwani Road to take home over a simple hill. About 8 kms was almost clocked. Everyone reached the Pub drenched in sweat, just before the rains poured. A good walking run for what it was!!
Next RUN : 24 July at MTWAPA; meet at HQ , near KCB, 3:30 SHARP. Accounts until now will be presented for all those who are interested after the run. For lift from Nakumatt Nyali, contact 313713, office hours only.
